We are seeking Scaffolding and Temporary Works Design Engineers to join our expanding team. You will be able to initiate, conceptualise, design, manage, document and deliver scaffolding and temporary works design solutions for both projects and tenders, using UK design standards/Eurocodes and codes of practice.  You will be able to undertake designs for scaffolding and temporary works structures associated with rail, buildings and infrastructure projects. 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven success with civil engineering contractors or engineering consultancy’s  
  • Ability to undertake design to current codes and standards
  • Thorough knowledge of safety legislations relating to scaffolding and temporary works
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to provide innovative solutions that add value
  • Good business and commercial awareness
  • IT literate and familiar with popular design software packages.  AutoCAD is required
  • Proficient in design calculations


  • Provide support to engineering teams nationwide with design, design checking and draughting
  • Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments
  • Maintenance of project documentation records
  • Liaison with clients to understand their specific requirements
  • Preparation of outline designs for tenders within short timescales
  • Provision of support and design proposals to site teams from pre-construction to construction phase
  • Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations and reports

Desirable Requirements:

  • Aiming towards becoming a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
  • 3 years+ experience working as a scaffolding and temporary works designer
  • Experience of working directly with main contractors
  • Experience in BIM technologies and Sketch-up
