Waterloo Station, London

The £800m redevelopment of Waterloo, Britain’s busiest station, included the renovation of the station roof.  During which a temporary access deck was required to provide tradesmen with direct access to the station roof and to accommodate welfare and office accommodation.  The deck was completely suspended to provide protection to the station below, which remained operational throughout.

Careful attention was paid to the installation of the deck, in particular to any fixings into the fabric of this Grade I listed building.  English Heritage were liaised with thoroughly throughout the design process.

As well as the design solution, RDG Engineering also produced full cost estimates and provided site supervision during the installation and dismantlement of the access deck.
